BATHING IN THE NIGHT SKY

                                    BATHING IN THE NIGHT SKY

It’s about 4am and I adjust the lounge chair in the back yard and lie down to look up at the shy.  The Night Sky.

It’s not perfect.  The view’s not perfect; it could be better.

I get up and take out my flashlight, then move the chaise a little further away from the side of the house.  I’ve now got much more sky view, but the umbrella in back of me is serving its daytime purpose but not my night-time.  I don’t need shade I need vision.  I get up again, turn around and crank down the umbrella, and get back in the lounge.  Perfect.

The wide expanse of sky above me is the widest I can get between the house and the oleander and bottle brush trees.  There’s a pleasant summer chill on a still, oh so quiet night and I can see the stars even a few planets and here I am, a million tiny cells embodying one me.   Bathing in the night sky at 4am.

I look up and breathe a breath and feel myself. I feel the sensation of the breath and feel myself one tiny cell made up of a million atoms. I close my eyes and feel myself part of this whole thing of me and the night sky.

I feel myself like a drop in the ocean.  The tiny little drop, part of this vast enormous ocean.  If the drop in a part of the ocean, then the drop is the ocean,

The drop is part of the ocean, the ocean is part of the drop.

I am a part of the universe, the universe is part of me.
